Supporting the Flower Pod Charity Through Teamwork

7 July 2026

Giving something back to the local community is an important part of what I do, so I was delighted to spend time in May volunteering alongside fellow St. James's Place Partners to support the fantastic work of the Flower Pod charity in Southwell.

As part of the project, we worked together to build a new outdoor pizza oven, creating a space where the charity’s members can come together to learn new skills, socialise and enjoy shared experiences.

Flower Pod provides opportunities for adults with learning disabilities to develop confidence, independence and practical skills through horticulture, crafts and a range of community-based activities. The charity makes a real difference to many people’s lives across Nottinghamshire, and it was a privilege to play a small part in supporting its work.

The day was a great example of what can be achieved when people come together with a shared purpose. It was rewarding to see the project take shape and to know that the finished pizza oven will be enjoyed for years to come.

A huge thank you to everyone involved for their hard work and enthusiasm, and to the team at Flower Pod for making us feel so welcome. I look forward to seeing the positive impact the new facility has for the people who use it.
